About

Welcome to the website of Laurentian University’s Centre for Evolutionary Ecology and Ethical Conservation (CEEEC, pronounced ‘seek’). Founded in 2013 by three ecologists and two philosophers, CEEEC is anchored by two Canada Research Chairs — on in Applied Evolutionary Ecology and the other in Environment, Culture and Values.

Our research centre is dedicated to fostering cross-disciplinary collaborations in the pursuit of socially responsible and biologically sustainable biodiversity conservation. CEEEC’s twin goals are to (a) promote cross-disciplinary cooperation on conservation and environmental issues and (b) integrate evolutionary perspectives in the conservation of biodiversity.
