On 26 November 2015, philosopher of science Dr. Letitia Meynell gave a presentation at Laurentian University on gender in nonhuman animals. This talk was part of Laurentian’s Masters in Humanities Speakers’ Series.
Dr. Meynell is an Associate Professor in the departments of Philosophy and Gender and Women’s Studies at Dalhousie University, as well as a CEEEC Associate. Among her current research foci, Dr. Meynell is working with CEEEC members and associates Gillian Crozier, Brett Buchanan, David Peña-Guzmán, and Andrew Fenton on a project titled “The Philosophical Animal.” This project is dedicated to envisioning new ways of understanding the interactions between human and nonhuman animals, including developing implications that are both theoretical (ethical and epistemological) and practical (critically engaged with science and policy-oriented).
